Missionaries arrived at St. Mary’s Odibo believing in the Great Commission of Jesus of Christ in Matthew 28: 16-20, when Jesus told his disciples to ‘Go and spread the good news’. As a result, a Theological Seminary where many priests and catechists received their training was constructed and completed in 1963. Unfortunately, the complex was destroyed by unknown armed forces in the early morning hours of 18 June 1981. Bishop James Kauluma, the Bishop of Namibia at the time, had the intention to reopen the Seminary once the war ended. However, funds were not found to fulfil Bishop Kauluma’s dream. Currently, there are plans and funds are needed to re-establish the Theological Seminary and Pastoral Training at St. Mary’s Odibo Mission.
